Some people who arrived at a carpool pickup spot in Nieuwegein, in the Netherlands, noticed a shepherd mix dog near a wooded area. Unfortunately, the dog was left behind and locked inside a cage all alone, with no owner in sight.
The people called the police for help, and they quickly came to the scene. When they arrived at the spot, they were surprised to see the bewildered dog in the cage, waiting for someone to help her. The officers released the dog from the cage and took care of her to ensure that she was okay.
Upon seeing the rescuers, she appeared to have no fear of them. She was overjoyed and grateful to be free and thanked them with a big smile and cute puppy jumps. Despite everything she had gone through, she remained affectionate and simply wanted someone to love her.
The officers brought the dog to a nearby shelter, where staff determined that she was not microchipped. No one can comprehend why the owner would abandon such a kind and loving dog.
“We have received several tips that we are working on,” the Nieuwegein police department wrote in a Facebook post about the rescue.
After the post was shared on Facebook, many people have already offered to adopt the happy dog and give her the best forever home possible. People have also expressed their anger towards her owner, but the police have been quick to remind people to remain calm because the most important thing is that the dog is now safe.
“We understand that this message elicits an emotional response and we also condemn the owner’s actions, which is why we would like to locate them,” the police wrote.
