The captivating moment was recorded by a non-professional camera user named Anil Prabhakar. While on a safari trip with his companions, he encountered a park ranger scouring for serpents and removing them from the water.
Anil Prabhakar, an amateur photographer, witnessed a touching moment while on a safari with his friends. They came across a forest warden clearing snakes from the river. Prabhakar was about to take a photo when an orangutan extended its hand towards the warden, apparently wanting to help. However, the man did not accept the animal’s help as he did not want to touch an unknown wild creature.
“Someone informed him about a snake in the river. An orangutan approached the riverbank and observed what he was doing. The orangutan then moved closer and offered its hand. The warden moved away. I later inquired why, and he replied, ‘It’s a wild animal that we are not familiar with.’ They exist to protect them,” Prabhakar recounted.
The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting orangutans in their natural environment, and the forest warden is one of its volunteers. The foundation was created in 1991 and now cares for 650 orangutans.
