Jake, the horse belonging to the British Police, refuses to leave his bed until he has been served his initial cup of tea

Tea is an essential part of daily life in the United Kingdom and a beloved custom for many residents. It is commonly consumed with sandwiches, crumpets, scones, cake, and biscuits, and often enjoyed during a mid-morning “tea break,” as well as alongside breakfast.

While it is unusual to serve tea with hay, one exception is made for a particular member of the police force. Jake, a police horse assigned to the Merseyside Mounted Section in Liverpool, located north of London, insists on having his initial cup of tea before getting out of bed each morning!

According to the officers, Jake will not rise from bed until he has been served his first cup of tea. He has a preference for two sugar cubes, but will reluctantly settle for one. The station recently shared images and videos of Jake relaxing in his blue horse blanket, enjoying his morning tea from a cup that has been carefully placed in the hay at the bottom of his stall.

The unit tweeted, “Jake absolutely refuses to get up until he has been given a warm cup of @tetleyuk tea. Once he has consumed this, he is ready for whatever the day may bring.”

The habit began after Jake sampled tea for the first time and discovered that he enjoyed it. Since that moment, the 20-year-old police horse has insisted on having his morning cup before embarking on his demanding duties.

While performing his duties, the diligent horse has been known to attempt to sneak sips of tea from other individuals’ cups if they are left unattended.

Jake has dedicated 15 years of service to the Merseyside Mounted Police and is due to retire in one year’s time. We believe that if Jake desires a cup of tea, he should be granted one. Do you not concur?

Please share this cute story with your family and friends.
