A heartwarming tale, which was featured on The Dodo, recounts the efforts of the Sale Ranch Sanctuary team, who rescued a pig named Cherry Blossom. Prior to being discarded at an animal shelter in California, which primarily caters to dogs and cats, Cherry Blossom had endured a life of harsh conditions.
Initially, it seemed unlikely that Cherry Blossom would pull through, but she ultimately made a full recovery.
Cherry Blossom was left at a shelter located in close proximity to Temecula, California. The individual who left her there stated that she was a stray.
Jen Sale, the CEO and founder of Sale Ranch Sanctuary, speculated that Cherry Blossom may have had an owner at some point, but was subject to neglectful circumstances.
Sale went on to mention that the pig had been afflicted with a particularly severe variety of mange, known as sarcoptic mange. If left untreated, this condition can prove to be fatal.
According to the shelter employees, it is believed that the individual who brought Cherry Blossom in may have been a rancher.
This person reportedly left her at the shelter, despite her needing medical attention. Jen Sale confirmed this account.
Since the shelter was not equipped to provide care for pigs, they reached out to a nearby farm sanctuary for assistance.
Sale, a livestock expert with extensive experience, attested to the fact that Cherry Blossom had endured extremely difficult circumstances and was in a considerable amount of pain.
Despite this, the pig exhibited an affectionate demeanor towards Sale and her husband. When they administered medication to her, Cherry Blossom quickly recognized that they were trying to help her.
Cherry Blossom is a shining example of how forgiving and loving animals can be.
Following the advice of a veterinarian, Cherry Blossom began receiving laser light therapy and was treated with a healing cream.
Within a period of two months, the pig’s health improved significantly. Her hair began to grow back and her skin appeared to be in much better condition.
Sale noted that Cherry Blossom’s personality has also blossomed. She enjoys playing with a ball, has taken a liking to her small clay hole, and displays friendly behavior towards everyone she interacts with.
Cherry Blossom is incredibly friendly and enjoys playing with our dogs. She is a sweet-natured animal and seeks attention from people.
Sale expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to care for Cherry Blossom and nurse her back to health. She feels blessed to have been able to provide Cherry Blossom with the necessary care and attention she needed.
Despite her difficult start in life, Cherry Blossom is now thriving and enjoying a happy life at the Sale Ranch Sanctuary. She is doing incredibly well and is a true testament to the resilience and forgiving nature of animals.
