The rocky coastline of Northern California is beautiful to behold but can be perilous for dogs.
While jogging at Ocean Beach in San Francisco, a man heard a sound that caused him to pause. It seemed to be a muted bark, yet he could not see any dogs around. He continued to scour the region and ultimately saw a dog that was trapped under the huge rocks.
The frightened dog was trapped in a narrow space between the rocks and required rescue before the high tide arrived.
ACC San Francisco was alerted and shared the remarkable rescue incident on social media, stating, “A dog was stuck between large rocks on Ocean Beach, close to the sewage treatment plant. Fortunately, it was low tide, and the water was not too close, but it was coming in. We were extremely fortunate to receive this call.”
An official, named Ortega, answered the call and succeeded in freeing the cute puppy by shifting one of the big rocks. The young dog was overjoyed to be rescued, and it turned out she had been reported as missing by her owners. The one-year-old Gwen, who was a Springer Spaniel, expressed her gratitude to her savior by looking up at him with her affectionate eyes.
ACC reported that “Gwen has been reunited with her family in Noe Valley. She was scared and cold, but otherwise fine. We don’t know how she ended up in that small space. Perhaps she accidentally dislodged a large rock and fell in, and the rock subsequently rolled on top of her. Regardless of how it occurred, we’re ecstatic that she’s now back at home, safe and sound!”
All the people involved in rescuing Gwen were instrumental in saving her and just happened to be in the right place at the right time. You can view all the photos of her rescue here, and don’t forget to share!
